PLLA EVENT GUIDELINES

In addition to our PLL Academy Guidelines, all PLLA events will abide by local and state guidelines.

 

Safe attendance

Participants will be asked to stay at home if they are feeling sick, experiencing the below COVID-19 symptoms, or have come into contact with a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. 

 

If a participant has tested positive for COVID-19, they must be at least 14 days post-positive test, with a minimum of 72 hours symptoms free and have a negative repeat COVID-19 test in order to return. Written clearance from a licensed medical professional will be required to play.

 

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. 

 

People with one or more of these symptoms may have COVID-19:

  • Cough 

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fever of  >100.3 degrees F/37.9 degrees C

  • Chills

  • Muscle pain

  • Sore throat 

  • New loss of taste or smell

Pre-event preparation:

  • Symptom surveillance: PLLA academy has partnered with HealthShield to help monitor staff and participants’ symptoms both leading up to, and during the event.

  • PLL Academy staff and coaches will be trained in CDC recommended health and safety protocols for events.

  • If possible, attendees are encouraged to travel alone to a venue or field, or with people from their immediate household.

  • Staff and Participants must sign off on COVID-19 protocols and health pledge prior to attending.

  • Balls and cones will be disinfected prior to and after each session by PLLA staff.

  • PLL Academy staff and coaches will wear masks for the duration of the event.

Upon arrival:

  • Contactless temperature surveillance will occur upon arrival. If temperature is above 100.3, the participant will be sent home and will need to be cleared by a medical professional prior to play.

  • Mask wearing for athletes is optional.

  • Parents may watch if they can maintain social distance guidelines and wear a mask.

Athlete and Coach conduct:

  • Players should arrive dressed and ready to play.

  • Minimize use of changing rooms, bathrooms, communal areas. 

  • Players should abstain from touching their face (mouth, eyes, or nose).

  • Players should bring their own water bottle, labeled with their name.

  • Water bottles can not be shared between individuals.

  • Cover mouth and nose with elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing.

  • No congregating before or after the event.

  • Please maintain a 6 foot distance when walking to and from the field.

  • Players will be required to keep their distance while getting their equipment back and during water breaks.

  • No spitting on field or rinsing mouth out during water breaks.

  • No food should be brought or shared between any on the field.

  • No huddles, handshakes, or fist bumps between players or coaches.

  • Coaches and players must use their stick to pick up balls. No player or coach should pick up balls with their bare hands.

  • Coaches will wear masks for the duration of the event. During drills, coaches who maintain a safe distance may lower their mask to coach.

  •  Any staff or athlete who uses the bathroom during the session will be instructed to wash their hands properly and to use hand sanitizer on their return to the field.

If a participant does not feel well during the event, they will be instructed to report to the safety manager on-site immediately.
